We are excited to invite participants to our new certification lab process that includes powerful new cast studies, advanced new coaching models, techniques and business practices being used by extraordinary coaches around the world today.

What is it?

A formation process: We believe that transformation requires more than knowledge transfer and insights. For you to become an advanced level coach requires learning, unlearning, discovery, practice and significant personal shifts. During the Certification process you will experience coaching firsthand as a coachee, coach, observer and participant. Our commitment to your transformation based on your vision matches your commitment to engage.

A dialogue: This coaching certification happens as a round table smaller group dialogue. Though there certainly is some lecture and teaching the bulk of the process is managed as facilitated dialogue in order to ensure contribution and contextualization. (All our participants have completed basic coaching training and/or behavioral science-based learning and are experienced people developers).

A practice ground: The objective of the process is for you to become proficient and confident at an advanced level of coaching. You will have multiple opportunities to practice coaching models, conversations and tools. You will also be able to observe coaching within the group by facilitators and other participants.

A connected and cohesive sharing: Each Lab is unique and different and reflects the participants and facilitators as blended open innovation model. Each participant has an opportunity to develop their own expression of the learning into a coaching practice that reflects their vision and context. The round table, user innovation approach allows for an higher level coaching experience.

A science-based discovery: The coaching lab is learning and discovery based process meaning that there is a significant download of best practices and case studies while at the same time a clear intentional mindset of discovering contextual learning together. Bring what you know and are exploring as part of your contribution.

What it’s not:

What is the Coaching Lab format?

A living lab (Coaching Lab) is a research and learning concept. A living lab is a user-centered, open-innovation ecosystem, often operating in a territorial context (e.g. city, agglomeration, region), integrating concurrent research and innovation processes within a public-private-people partnership.

The concept is based on a systematic user co-creation approach integrating research and innovation processes. These are integrated through the co-creation, exploration, experimentation and evaluation of innovative ideas, scenarios, concepts and related technological artifacts in real life use cases.

With this in mind we have:

How does it work:

The Coaching Lab certification process has two anchor 3 – day immersion workshops. One at the start if the Lab and the second in Month 4 (±90 days after the first workshop). There will also be 3 online group sessions that will include learning, feedback and coaching. Each participant will also receive 4x 1:1 coaching sessions over the certification process. A final review and interview will give the participant the opportunity for full certification and to be added to our graduate base of coaches. Participants will be able to apply the learning and development after the first weekend and a complete process of the individual certification for the Coaching Lab 3.0 should take no longer than 6 months but could be done in as little as 4 months.

“Secrets”

Each Lab has multiple variants of successes and failures – an environment of candid sharing allows for each participant to learn what has worked and has not worked in different scenarios. This openness and sharing often reveals powerful tools and frames that unlock transformation.

The Coaching Lab content:

What is Transformation:

We explore and discuss transformation as a concept and practice. We will look at transformation as utilized in organizational change, team dynamics and individual development. The content will be supported by research, case studies and sharing by the facilitators. All facilitators are practicing coaches with active businesses.

The Coaching Process:

The coaching process has transformed multiple times in the last 30 years and has come a long way from it's initial therapy-based expression or its consulting based approaches. We will discuss best practices and styles that include outcome-based models, executive team coaching, cross departmental coaching, therapist based coaching models, situational coaching models and practice driven coaching processes.

The Coach Process Context:

We will explore multiple expressions of coaching modalities including coaching C-Suite executives (we will explore the nuances and differences in coaching the CEO, CFO, CTO, Chief Revenue offices, Chief Marketing officer, Head of People, In-House council and any other executives that may be part of the C-Suite.

Team coaching and group coaching will be distinct and tools and techniques for this will also be addressed.

Each participant will have the opportunity to design and create their own unique coaching process using some of the discussed frames as a foundation.

Each participant will also receive a comprehensive list of required and recommended reading, a resource manual and also a toolkit of coaching documents and forms that can be used immediately.

The Coaching Conversation:

Coaching is the mastery of managing transformational conversations – as such we will deep dive into multiple conversation models as well as contextual conversations that include

  • Vision
  • Alignment of corporate and individual mandates
  • Gaining clarity
  • Developing powerful choice frames
  • Managing competing commitments
  • Dealing with fear
  • Overcoming procrastination
  • Exploring relational dynamics
  • Dealing with stress and burn-out
  • + Multiple other conversation sets that may be more contextual based on the participants in the lab.

The Business of Coaching

As the tools and models coaching has evolved so has the business of coaching. Most corporate organizations now see the value of coaching and have or are developing in-house capabilities for coaching.

This evolution has also influences the business of coaching and the different models of building a practice. We will look at all the factors in this globally regionally and also by industry and include the following discussions

  • Coaching business models
  • Contracting and proposals
  • Partnerships
  • Service and Product models
  • Trainer coach archetypes
  • Experiential Coaching design
